Honey Bees nests are active all year round. As the single biggest pollinator bees are of great importance to our landscape and plants. However, when these nests are on the move or occur in populated areas specialist help is required. Up to 50,000 honey bees can live in a nest, although 10,000 and 20,000 is more typical.

You may discover a bees nest at home in walls, decking, in holes in porches etc created by other animals, under eaves or anywhere that people inhabit or populate. How We Rid Your Property Of A Bees Nest Humanely

Where a bees nest represents a very high risk (such as a nest within the home, school, hospital or near those who are allergic to Bee stings), the nest is removed to a safe area by our professional pest controllers. Swarm boxes can be used to relocate bees to a bee keeper's hive without causing harm to the bees. If the nest can be accessed easily then it is more likely that it can be moved. Also the likelihood of a successful relocation depends on whether the queen can be located and moved.

Pesticide treatments are only used on bees’ nests as an absolute last resort, using HSE approved pesticides. In these cases, once the treatment is complete all reasonable steps are taken to prevent foraging honey bees from gaining access to the treated nest. This is done by removing the combs and blocking the entrances.

Swarming Bees

It is useful to know if bees are swarming rather than them being part of an established nest. If this is the case please let us know as you may require a rapid call out service. If the swarm is outside your house then close windows and remain indoors until we arrive. If that presents a risk then vacate the area and communicate using a mobile phone or neighbours phone instead.

Bee Stings

If you are stung by a bee then the pain is reduced if the sting is removed quickly. If a sting is still present, carefully brush or scrape it off. You can use the edge of a clean blunt object, such as a finger nail or the edge of a credit card, to do this. Please do not use tweezers to remove the sting, as you may squeeze more venom into the wound.

General swelling and some itching is fairly common amongst those with moderate allergies.

  • You are worried that the area of redness around the bite, or the swelling, gets bigger over time
  • You have a fever (a high temperature), or you are flushed, hot and sweaty
  • You get red streaks travelling from the bite site towards your chest
  • You develop any other symptoms.

You should call an ambulance if you experience any of the following:

  • Swelling around the mouth, throat or tongue that could inhibit breathing
  • Any Chest Pains
  • Nausea or Stomach Cramps
  • Wheezing, choking or an inability to breathe properly
  • Fainting, headaches or dizziness
